Video to Telegram Sticker Converter

Turn an MP4, MOV, or WebM clip into a Telegram video sticker: a 512 px WEBM file, at most three seconds long, under 256 KB, with no audio track.

Drop a clip, choose the three-second window you want to keep, and encode the .webm right here. The file never leaves your browser.

What Telegram expects from a video sticker

Telegram video stickers are not just short videos — they have to match an exact profile, and the @Stickers bot rejects anything that misses it. The file must be a WEBM container encoded with the VP9 codec. One side has to be exactly 512 pixels and the other 512 or less, so a 512 × 288 or 512 × 512 frame is fine but 640 × 360 is not. The clip can run for at most 3 seconds at 30 frames per second, the whole file must stay under 256 KB, and it must contain no audio track at all. Telegram loops the result automatically, so there is no loop flag to set.

Almost nothing you record meets that on its own. A phone clip is typically H.264 inside an MP4, 1080 × 1920, twenty or thirty seconds long, several megabytes, with a microphone track attached — five separate reasons for a rejection. This converter fixes all five in one pass: it seeks to the start point you pick, draws the next three seconds onto a 512 px canvas at 30 fps, and records that canvas as VP9 WebM. Because only the canvas is recorded, no audio can survive the trip. Decoding and encoding both happen in the page, so the footage is never uploaded anywhere.

How to convert a video into a Telegram sticker

  1. 01

    Pick a clip

Drop in an MP4, MOV, or WebM file. Whatever your browser can play, the converter can read: H.264 MP4 works nearly everywhere, while HEVC footage straight from an iPhone often does not decode in Chrome.

  2. 02

    Choose the three-second window

Move the start slider to the moment you want. The window is always three seconds long — or shorter if the clip ends first — and the exact range is shown next to the slider.

  3. 03

Encode the WebM in your browser

Frames are drawn onto a 512 px canvas at 30 fps and recorded as VP9 WebM. It runs in real time, so a three-second sticker takes about three seconds, and the spec checklist confirms size, length, codec, and the missing audio track.

  4. 04

    Upload it via @Stickers

Download the .webm file, open @Stickers in Telegram, send /newvideopack, then upload the file and assign it an emoji. Repeat for each sticker and publish the pack when you are done.

Trims to the three-second limit

Pick any start point in a long recording. The tool keeps the next three seconds — or whatever is left of the clip — and stops there, so the length rule is never the reason your sticker is rejected.

Exact 512 px sizing

By default the longest side is scaled to exactly 512 px and the aspect ratio is kept, with no letterbox bars added. Turn on the square crop to take a centred 512 × 512 frame instead.

VP9 when your browser can do it

Chrome, Edge, and Firefox encode VP9 WebM through MediaRecorder, which is what Telegram requires. If only a fallback codec is available, the tool says so rather than handing you a file that will be refused.

Nothing is uploaded

Decoding, drawing, and encoding all happen in this tab. No server sees your footage, and no queue stands between you and the download.

Video to Telegram sticker — frequently asked questions

How long can a Telegram video sticker be?

Three seconds, and that is a hard limit — @Stickers refuses anything longer instead of trimming it for you. This converter records exactly three seconds from the start point you choose, or stops earlier if the clip ends first, so a thirty-second recording becomes a compliant three-second sticker in one pass.

Why do I have to convert MP4 to WebM?

Telegram only accepts video stickers in a WEBM container. An MP4 is refused even when it is already 512 px, three seconds long, and silent, and renaming the extension does not help because the container really is different. The pixels here are decoded and re-encoded into a genuine WebM file.

Why VP9, and what if my file ends up VP8?

Telegram specifies VP9 video inside the WEBM container. Chrome, Edge, and recent Firefox can encode VP9 through MediaRecorder, and the tool picks it automatically when it is available. If your browser only offers VP8 or a default codec, you still get a playable WebM, but an amber notice appears because @Stickers may reject it — switching to Chrome or Edge is the quickest fix.

How do I keep the file under 256 KB?

The encoder targets roughly 230 KB, so most clips land under the limit on the first try. If yours does not, shorten the window, turn on the square crop (a 512 × 512 frame has fewer pixels than a wide one at the same height), or choose a calmer section — fast pans, confetti, and rain cost far more bits than a person talking against a still background.

Can I remove the background?

Not here, and no browser tool can do it honestly from an ordinary clip. A WebM sticker can carry transparency only if the source video already has an alpha channel, and MP4 recordings never do. Either record with alpha — a VP9 WebM with an alpha channel, or a ProRes 4444 export — or build a vector sticker instead, which supports transparency by design.

Why won't my MOV file load?

Decoding is the browser's job, and support varies by browser and operating system. H.264 files in MP4 or MOV play almost everywhere, but HEVC (H.265) clips from an iPhone often fail in Chrome, and ProRes or AV1 files can fail too. If the clip refuses to load, re-export it as H.264 MP4 — QuickTime, VLC, and every video editor can do this — and drop it in again.
